Janet May Blair, 91, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 5, 2026. She will be remembered for her generous heart, joyful spirit, and, above all, the deep love she had for her family.
Born on May 31, 1935, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Alexina and William Lewis, Janet later made her home in Salem, New Hampshire, where she shared many happy years with her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Blair.
Janet found joy easily and had a gift for sharing it with others. Music was a lifelong love: she played the piano and organ, sang in her church choir, and was an active member of her Methodist church community. She enjoyed bowling, treasured time with family and friends, and for many years delighted others as “Jingles” the clown—a fitting expression of her playful nature and love of making people smile.
Janet was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her grandchildren will remember the traditions that made visits with Grammy their own: a Shirley Temple waiting for them when they arrived, summer trips to Canobie Lake Park, and countless ordinary moments made memorable simply because they were spent together. As her family grew to include ten great-grandchildren, so too did the love and pride she took in being “GG.”
Janet was predeceased by her husband, Bob; older brother, William “Billy” Lewis; aunts, Mina Macklin and “Jessie” Hughes; grandson, Juri Bunetta; son-in-law, Al Bunetta; and long-time companion, Robert “Bobbie” Pellegrino. She is survived by her children, Dawn Bunetta, Jill Gilbert and her husband, Paul, and Glenn Fritzsche and his wife, Carin; her grandchildren, Jessica, Kelly, Amy, Janie, and Alison; her ten great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Janet leaves behind a life measured not simply in years, but in the people she loved, the laughter she shared, and the memories she created. Her faith, warmth, humor, and devotion to family will live on in all those fortunate enough to have known her.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Rest peacefully, Mom, Grammy, and GG.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 13th from 10:30 – 11:30AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH with a graveside service to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, 327 Main St, Salem, NH.
